Tribeca Tavern [ Bathroom Rating: B; Bar Rating: A ]
Tribeca Tavern is loacted at 247 West Broadway (between Walker and North Moore Streets). The mens bathroom is in the basement. It's small with a urinal and a stall. Sink was functional but no hot water, and there were hand towels. The bathroom was kind of clean but it smelled.

Tribeca Tavern is a neat place. Very casual but not quite a dive bar. Many different kinds of folks in here and it did get busy but was still manageable. There are entrances in the front and the back, which was unusual I thought. Beer is cheap and they appear to have quite a full range of single malts. The front area has a pool table. I will definitely come back here with a group of friends as they can accomodate.

Turks and Frogs [ Bathroom Rating: A; Bar Rating: A ]
Turks & Frogs is at 323 W 11th Street between Greenwich and Washington, just south of the Meatpacking District. There is a unisex bathroom in the back. Sink is functional w/hot water, hand towels and the bathroom was quite clean.
T&F has a nice list of international wines and is reasonably priced. It's a two room wine bar, cozy and pretty quiet. It has snacks too, I had the cheese and fruit plate, very good. I like T&F a lot, it's a neighborhood kind of place and a good spot for wine with a friend or a date.

  d.b.a [ Bathroom Rating: A; Bar Rating: A- ]
d.b.a is at 41 1st Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Streets on the West side of the block. The mens bathroom is near the back. It's small with a urinal and a stall. Sink is functional w/hot water, hand towels and the bathroom was sufficiently clean.

Excellent beer selection, they list 'em on blackboards behind the bar. They have hundreds of varieties of bottled beer and an impressive array of draughts. Good selection of whiskey too. It definitely gets crowded and louder as the night gets on. Highly recommended, and the garden area in back is great when the weather is decent. As for the name d.b.a, I like to think it stand for "does business as".

Barrows Pub [ Bathroom Rating: A; Bar Rating: A ]
Barrow's Pub is at 463 Hudson Street, on the corner of Hudson and Barrow. There's a mens one-stall bathroom in the back. It's a good size with lockable door. Sink is functional w/hot water, hand towels and the bathroom was sufficiently clean.

Good dive bar, great place for a drink with no hassles, and it has a pool table. I'm a fan of the $3 PBRs. It got a little busy but it was a Friday night.

  Bar 6 [ Bathroom Rating: A; Bar Rating: B+ ]
Bar 6 is at 502 Sixth Ave between 12th and 13th Street (East side of the block, nearer to 13th Street). It's more of a restaurant than a bar but I think of it as a bar, plus the word 'Bar' is in the name of the place. There's a fine mens room in the back, sink w/hot water, towels and its clean.

Bar 6 is a nice place with good food. Service could be better. It's generally quiet and its above the fray of the W 4th area which is just down the block. Check out Smitty on Sunday nights, he plays a National Reso-Phonic guitar, he's excellent.

The Magician [ Bathroom Rating: A; Bar Rating: A- ]
The Magician is located at 118 Rivington St at the corner of Essex Street. Mens and Womens bathrooms in the back. Good size bathroom, clean, had a working sink with hot water, and hand towels. What more do you need.

The Magician is a great bar though it does get packed and pretty loud. Good happy hour specials, cool staff and good atmosphere. They do check everyone's IDs as the place got busted a while ago in a NYPD sting of the place.

White Horse Tavern [ Bathroom Rating: B; Bar Rating: A- ]

The White Horse Tavern is located on Hudson at 11th St in the West Village. Mens bathroom is in the room off of the main bar. There's two side by side urinals and a stall. It's a small bathroom but with functional sink, hot water and paper. The stall was cramped, not exactly clean, and I'm not sure if the door lock functioned. I had fight my in and then back out again.

The White Horse is famous as the place where Dylan Thomas drank alcohol to excess before he died. I like the White Horse a lot, it's a cool bar and it maintains its sense of history. There's outdoor seating and good service. Tasty food too and it never seems to get overcrowded. If it does get overcrowded, WXOU is right across the street.

Whiskey Ward [ Bathroom Rating: A; Bar Rating: B ]

Whiskey Ward (or Whiskey Bar?) is at 121 Essest Street (between Rivington and Delancey). There's mens and womens one-stall bathroom in the back. Mens room was big with a lockable door. Sink is functional with hot water and plenty of hand towels available. The bathroom was sufficiently clean though the floor around the toilet was mostly piss.

Whiskey Bar has a cool interior with good + good looking bar staff who were receptive and accommodating to our large party. Nice place and recommended for a drink in the lower east side. It got very busy nearer to 2 AM plus the DJ was real loud but that's the way it is Saturday nights in the city.

  Chumley's [ Bathroom Rating: A; Bar Rating: A ]
Chumley's is at 86 Bedford Street (between Grove and Barrow). There's a mens one-stall bathroom near the back. Good size with lockable door. Sink is functional sink w/hot water, hand towels and the bathroom was sufficiently clean.

This bar has a non descript entrance, no signs or anything other than it's street number "86" on the door. Cool interior and ambiance, great place for a drink with no hassles. The bar was a speakeasy and holds that ambience. Chumley's has their own brews which are fine. Food is good too.
Chumley's is the source of the phrase "to get 86ed" taken from its street address. The expression "86 someone" comes from the police informing Chumley's before raids by Prohibition agents back in the day to "86 everyone out the back door." Chumley's has a few entrances/exits that are generally hidden or not plainly obvious to the eye allowing for quick exits.

This is the "Manhattan Bar Bathrooms" Blog. Here I'll discuss NYC bars I've been to and comment on the condition of their bathrooms, even providing a picture of the bathroom. I want to track, for my benefit and yours, which bar bathrooms in the city are decent and which are shitholes.
